Teachers plan and deliver effective instruction and create an environment that facilitates learning for their students
Artifact One
Standard 3.E: Teachers provide students with opportunities to work in teams and develop leadership
Standard 3.E: Teachers provide students with opportunities to work in teams and develop leadership
This Peer Interview Critique lesson demonstrates my understanding of Teacher Quality Standard 3.E in a few ways. I used the critique to provide students with an opportunity to work in teams. By working in teams and discussing their work and its processes through guiding questions students were able to develop some understanding of what a critique is. The guiding questions promoted effective communication between the students and since these students had little to no experience with critique I worked this lesson to provide them with the tools they needed to effectively lead their own conversation about their work.
Artifact Two
Standard 3.C: Teachers integrate and utilize appropriate available technology to engage students in authentic learning experiences
Standard 3.C: Teachers integrate and utilize appropriate available technology to engage students in authentic learning experiences
This Kahoot I used for a critique lesson integrates technology into my practice. Kahoots are easily available for both me and my students to benefit from. It engages students since it's interactive and slightly competitive. It's appropriate for secondary students especially as they get an opportunity to engage in learning by playing a game through their phones or laptops. Kahoots provide a great authentic learning experience because they are made by the teacher providing them. When you know your students and their interests you can make something pertinent to your them. My Kahoot is no different in this case, I used images I knew students could recognize and engage in as well as questions I knew could refresh their memory on the subject at hand.
Reflection:
I consider myself proficient in Standard 3. While I have created lessons that have been successful, I believe there is always room for improvement. Overall I consider Standard 3 one I will always be working on. I will be consistently faced with new challenges every year of teaching as long as I do it. While I think I have the foundation of effective communication, using appropriate technology etc., I do not think I am perfect.
