This interdisciplinary lesson I helped to create aligns with Standard 1.B. While developing this lesson I had to consider how it would combine both social studies, science and art into one cohesive unit. This lesson successfully combined these three content areas and asks students to use the skills from all three to demonstrate their knowledge of the content. It also puts an emphasis on literacy by asking students to partake in an oral and written argument for their summative assessments.

This presentation I created demonstrates my use of Standard 1.C in how I applied my content area to the strategy I taught to my peers. I carefully selected the Color Symbol Image strategy as it aligned seamlessly with art content. CSI lends itself to visual teaching/ learning and would work well in any art classroom for a myriad of different lessons. It allows students to tap into their artistic minds and and express their understanding in a visual way.
Reflection:
I would consider myself proficient/ accomplished in Standard 1. I have demonstrated understanding in my content area through my lesson plans that align with Colorado Academic Standards in art. My interdisciplinary Lesson shows my ability to connect other content areas to my own and apply literacy to my own lessons as well. I put myself between proficient and accomplished because I do not necessarily show a strong mathematical emphasis in my practice thus far. My Strategy Presentation further demonstrates my expertise in content because of my ability understand what best integrates with art content.
