For this lesson I wanted to incorporate literacy through story telling so I asked students to take time and recall a strong memory they had that involved an animal in any way. Students were asked to write out their story as well as find 5 art references and 5 real animal references of the particular animal from their stories. I asked students to combine features from their animals to a pot and sketch out potential ways they would choose to do so. After planning, I taught students about the coil pot method as well as some history on it. Student then brought their animal memory pots to life, capturing their stories in a piece of art they could cherish!
